Answer

Hi,

Thank you for your honest question. It is indeed hard when we face trouble after trouble to see what God is up to.

You also mention how Jesus covered for sins of people who were not born yet, and I'll also add that He died for people even before His own time. Let me explain.

Begin with Genesis in mind. When God created all things and humans, everything was perfect. There was no pain and suffering. There was no shame. People (Adam and Eve) were just satisfied and had all they needed.

Then, sin entered the world. The relationship with God was broken, and suffering, pain, and shame came. People had to work hard to get by. A sacrificial system was instituted so that the blood of an animal could cover the sins that people committed against God. It was imperfect, but it was a picture of God's plan to save the people He created (See Hebrews 8).

Then came Jesus, who made his sacrifice complete. It is not sinning that prevents us from drawing close to God, but it is now up to our faith in Jesus because Jesus has taken care of the problem of sin.

Now, you may talk about paying back for sin. Yet, that is not Biblical. Jesus paid for sin, period. Yet, there are two kinds of suffering. One is that due to sin, everyone lives in an imperfect world. We do not live in the paradise that Genesis depicted. Then there is good suffering, which still hurts a lot! It is reserved for people who accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, who can come to God as their Father. Such people receive the discipline of the Father (called sanctification) (See Hebrews 12).

So, through Jesus, God has provided a way back to Him once and for all. It includes those before Jesus' time who had to rely on the temporary sacrificial system and those not born yet.

I want you to consider heaven that belongs in our future. It will be that place with no more pain, suffering, and shame. In that place, our temporary years on earth would not matter. We will be satisfied.

I know it hurts during our times of hurt, but look to God, who has promised us no more pain and suffering. The suffering exists here on earth because of sin, and Jesus has taken care of it. Please write back if I can support you further.

Many blessings!
